Sustainable Resource Processing
Executive Summary - Going Forward
Research and Development:
•The process of generating innovative R&D projects that are explicitly driven by the sustainability agenda is considered to be very fertile; some high impact opportunities have been identified
•Over the coming year, comprehensive R&D programs in response to the key challenges facing the minerals processing industries will be developed; the aim is to mobilise a ‘$10M per annum’ scale of response
•The homework necessary to be able to respond effectively to the next call for CRC applications is planned
Organisational Effectiveness:
•The process started here will continue beyond the project as an activity driven network in transition to constituting a more permanent organisational framework
•The next six months will see a number of important parallel activities and initiatives develop which provide the opportunity to build synergy and alignment
•To take the outcomes of this project forward most effectively means interacting closely and flexibly with all involved to find the optimum organisational forms
•A key interaction will be with the Global Mining Inititiative - MMSD, as the outcomes unfold
•A workshop will be held in six months time to review all aspects of progress
The Leadership Opportunity:
•With a focussed response to the distinct challenges of resource processing, coupled with strong national leadership across the resources sector as a whole - bringing together industry, government and research to mobilise significant innovative effort - Australia becomes a natural anchor point for the global thrust on sustainable development of minerals and energy resources
